Young Leader Coach Training
Developing tomorrow’s community soccer leaders.
Since 2014, coaches from Manchester City have been leading trainings around the globe to share 30 years of community soccer know-how with a select group of Young Leaders – all of whom have an unwavering commitment to make a change in their community.
This year, Manchester City Football Club, in partnership with DC SCORES, is offering its annual Young Leader Coach Training virtually to Young Leaders from Washington, DC and Philadelphia.
This training will focus on enhancing the leadership, communications, and teamwork skills of the young leaders, as well as sharing valuable knowledge on how to use the power of soccer to create a genuine social impact in their community.
Training Details
Who: Young Leaders (no previous coaching background needed!) both male and female ages 16 - 28
When: Tuesday, April 13th - Thursday, April 15th; 10:00am - 1:00pm
Cost: Free
Where: Virtual
Other info: All Young Leaders will receive a Coaching Kit with everything they need for the training, including a Manchester City t-shirt, ball, pump, cones, mask, hand sanitizer, as well as a Manchester City Young Leader Coaching Certificate. Participants will also receive a daily lunch stipend of $12/day.

We can accommodate a limited amount of Young Leaders at this training. Priority acceptance will be given to applications based on the date of their submission. We anticipate having a waitlist of Young Leaders for this training, so we encourage you to apply as early as possible.

The training will combine soccer field and classroom sessions that focus on these four areas of development:
Leadership – To build the confidence and skills for effective leadership
Community Coaching – Developing skills to deliver high-quality community soccer
Social Impact – Creating positive social impact through soccer
Project Management – To organize community programs and sessions
Who is this training for?
This training is for any Young Leader (age 16-28) that is interested in becoming a better soccer coach and making meaningful community change through the game of soccer. This training will give everyone (brand new coaches and even those that have been coaching for years) a new perspective on how to best use the game of soccer as a tool to develop your players and communities.

What do coaches need to bring to training?
Coaches do not need to bring anything to training except great energy, a positive attitude, and excitement to learn. All other equipment and supplies will be provided by Manchester City and DC SCORES.
Who will be leading the training?
The training will be lead by staff from Manchester City. The staff include professional coaches, former professional players, and experts in community soccer programs.
How does the application process work?
Young Leaders that are interested in participating in this training should apply ASAP. We can accommodate a limited amount of participants at this training. Priority acceptance will be given to applications based on the date of their submission. We anticipate having a waitlist for this training, so we encourage you to apply as early as possible. Applicants can expect to hear back within a week of their application about their status.
